Good night.

It's been a very good weekend- for me at least. For others, stuck in airports till the wee hours of the morning...maybe not as much.

Friday was full of cleaning - the car, the house, even my desk at work got cleaned up. That night, which was supposed to be full of drinking was instead full of me napping and going to home improvement stores. Still a good night in my book.

Saturday and Sunday were full of time with Michael. We went shopping and I managed to make it out with out buying a single thing. Couple of nice meals with all the friends and also had quite a nice walk around Belle Isle. All in all a very lovely time.

And now I have to try to get some rest before going back to work tomorrow. Seems impossible.

Week of the Little Ones

On top of my normal work activities and a ton of new projects I've been helping with, this week our office has been full of youngsters (and will continue to be for at least the rest of the week).
I gave a tour and did a presentation for 11 6th graders. I had to do some cad training for a 16 year old that looked like a 12 year old. Today, I had to due an interview/testing session with a 20 year old (ok, maybe he's not that young). Tomorrow I have another interview with a college kid. And still more on Thursday.

Normally I feel like the young one in the office...but not this week. Sigh.

In Summary

So the weekend started as quite a bust. I was sick for the last half of the work day on Friday, went home and slept till about 6:30, then got up to just sit around and moan about how I didn't feel well. Then I ate a bagel and ginger ale which made it worse. I finally went to bed around 10.
Saturday came and I still felt terrible so most of the day was spent going back to bed for naps. I think I ended up napping twice for a total of 4.5 hours...something around that. It may seem like overkill, but it worked.
That night we went to Eric and Steph's for their annual drink a lot of beer party. They bought Newcastle especially for me. Other than that, I played beer pong for the first time ever and got four out of six cups. Would have won too if it weren't for that pesky Alex just trying to hit the ceiling with his ball. Left kind of early since Alex was annoying a lot of people and hitting on girls that were engaged or married. Never a good call.

Today was the first soccer game of the season against Red Stripes. The CCFC won 1-0 with an impressive 4 yellow cards (could be 3, waiting to see the cvsa page updates). As you can tell it was a hard fought game.

It's going to be a long week- lots of things at work, soccer game mid-week, hair appointments, car things, fun times on Friday. I think I need a nap already

And The Academy Award goes to...

I actually watched the Oscars last night...mainly because nothing else was on and I didn't want to play wii. Surprisingly to me, out of the main categories (and even a lot of the small ones too) none of the winners were American. Not that I mind its just a bit surprising - especially in best Actress category.

Other than that, I found my new boyfriend last night. He's dreamy. And Scottish. And funny. I'm sold.

And no - I didn't see Atonement and yes I am behind the times.

Somedays

Today has been one of those days. I was pulled in a million directions and by the end of an extended work day I barely knew my own name.

On top of that it started raining around noon and just kept going. Normally I don't mind rain, but I had been looking forward to the lunar eclipse. With the clouds, the chance of me getting a photo of it or even a glimpse was slim.

But thankfully, I was able to get a few pictures of it. I'm not completely satisfied with them due to wind and lingering clouds. I was surprised how the wind moved the camera (even on a tripod) when I left the shutter open - therefore the focus wasn't quite right in those shots. I don't know. I'm happy I had the opportunity to shoot it, but I wish there was more to show for it. Constant critic.

Penny Lane

So last night I took out my friend Mick for a very belated birthday drink. I ended up at Penny Lane a little before him and was chatting with the bartender when a crazy or drunk (maybe both) lady sat down next to me. She had a really gruff voice, leathery skin, and very saggy, very exposed chest. She started talking about how rough her day had been and then asked me for a hug. I just looked at her. And she hugged me. She definitely held on a bit too long. After that she continued to squeeze my leg and talk about random things - until she saw a cute guy (who was probably 20 years younger than her).
So Mick showed up and I was trying to make him sit in her seat but he said he'd rather stand. Then she came back. As she was on her way to her seat, she grabbed his butt. Told him he should have sat down.

On a side note, there's this cool website called bighugelabs.com that allows you to do fun things with your flickr pictures.
